PYRENEAN MOUNTAIN DOG C OF GB Open Show 2016

Judge NIGEL WRIGHT

Pyrenean Mountain Dog Club of Great Britain held an Open Show where BIS was Ch Febus Mauvezin; RBIS, Charibere Simply Magic at Chezanna; & BP, Shiresoak She’s The One.

I would like to thank the committee of the PMDC of GB for the invitation to judge their open show & the stewards who professionally managed the ring. The venue was excellent & the weather allowed outside judging which suits the natural movement of the PMD. Overall I was pleased by the quality of the dogs presented, coupled with the pleasure of judging two young potential jewels of the breed. The overall health of the dogs was excellent with no bad mouths or poor pigmentation observed.

V (6,2a) 1 Pollard’s Ch Gillandant Suger And Spice, this 8 years bitch still looking in top form with a lovely balanced head, strong neck, correct dentition, excellent pigmentation, moved well holding a level topline with good rear angulation & drive. BV, BB, BOS; 2 Haresign’s Ch Briannor Ainthalfhot at Caselbarn, 7½ years male, again a veteran dog in excellent condition but unfortunate in be in completion with a bitch in full bloom. Correct head with good earset to eye alignment, correct dentition, excellent pigmentation, good front/rear angulation with correct shaped feet, moved well; 3 Ford’s Ch Gillandant Kiss And Tell at Desalazara. MP 1 Thomas’ Shiresoak Snow Patrol, a good sized 8 months puppy dog white with blaireau markings, a pleasant head, correct eye shape, correct dentition, topline, angulation & movement still a little immature, but time is on his side. BPD, BOSP. PD (2) 1 S Snow Patrol; 2 Smith’s Granchester Vindicator, 9 months all white puppy. This puppy has put on a lot of growth in height in a very short time & therefore appears tall & narrow for his age, it will be interesting to see how he matures. His head is still immature but would have preferred a slightly shorter muzzle length. Excellent mouth, dentition, & pigmentation. Long body level topline but preferred the movement of 1. JD 1 Kenyon, Ward & Bermingham’s Charibere Simply Magic at Chezanna, this large 13 months white dog is one of the young jewels in the show with real potential as a future Ch. Lovely balanced head with correct amount of stop coupled with excellent pigmentation, correct eye, tight mouth with good dentition. Well constructed with amble bone, good depth of chest, correct angulation & his topline has levelled with maturity. He seemed a little out of coat but moved with energy & drive. RBD, RBIS. YD 1 Simply Magic at C. ND (2) 1 Kennedy’s Kentredecim Beach Brother, an all white 2½ years male in full coat. Overall well shaped head but would prefer tighter flews. Good front & rear angulation & moved well; 2 G Vindicator. UGD (2) 1 Carter’s Jumicar Snow Blizzard, 23 months male with heavier head & strong blaireau markings, would prefer a little less stop. Excellent pigmentation & dentition, good level topline, amble bone & correct angulation; 2 G Vindicator. PGD (2,1) 1 J Snow Blizzard. LD (2,1) 1 J Snow Blizzard. OD (6,1) This was a stunning line-up of Ch all in fine form & each having slightly different strengths in head, conformation & movement. On a different day they could all change places 1 Bowker & Gibson’s Ch Febus Mauvezin, a lovely 4½ years male with a balanced head of correct size & proportions topped off with a classic Pyrenean expression. Excellent pigmentation, & dentition. Correct eye shape/colour, ears set well on head with a touch of blaireau. Strong neck in the correct proportion coupled with a deep chest giving the impression of power. Good level topline, amble bone & correct front & rear angulation, well groomed coat, moved with drive & purpose. BD, BIS; 2 Kenyon & Ward’s Ch Charibere Simply Special at Chezanna, a 4½ years predominantly white dog is one of the largest in the breed, balanced by good conformation & plenty of bone. This dog is a showman & sparkles in the big arena in front of a crowd, but today he seemed a little subdued in his showmanship. His head has some excellent qualities concerning shape of skull, ear placement, skull to muzzle dimensions, lovely dark pigmentation. Overall excellent confirmation with a deep chest, good length of back & level topline with the correct rear angulation & dressed in a thick well groomed coat. Moved with an elegant free gait; 3 Savage’s SW Ch Vi’skaly’s Harry Honda at Kington.

PB (2,1) 1 Bayliss’ Shiresoak She’s The One, a 9½ months puppy white bitch with blaireau ear markings. This was the other young jewel in the show. A really outstanding puppy with a lovely balanced feminine head with a great expression & excellent conformation, which is not normally seen in such a young bitch, surly a future Ch. I liked everything about her head, the profile, eye shape & colour, solid pigmentation good dentition with a tight mouth. Her conformation was outstanding, correct neck length, level topline, good angulation & moved like a dream. BPB, BPIS, RBB. JB (4) 1 S She’s The One; 2 Savage’s Viskaly’s Lilla My at Kington, a 16 months pretty bitch. Lovely balanced feminine head, good pigmentation, correct dentition. Still developing but presented a good overall outline with level topline & good angulation, moved & handled well; 3 Kenyon, Ward & Bermingham’s Charibere Simply A Dream at Chezanna. YB (3) 1 S She’s The One; 2 Simply A Dream at C, 13 months white bitch, out of the same litter as the outstanding JD winner. Lovely feminine head, full of quality but preferred the pigmentation of 2 in previous class. Nicely constructed with level topline, good level of bone & correct rear angulation of hindquarters. Moved well; 3 Carter’s Casabear Moonbeam. NB (3) 1 She’s The One; 2 V Lilla My at K; 3 C Moonbeam. UGB (1) 1 S She’s The One. PGB (0). Correct head profile, good pigmentation, excellent mouth, tight lips, good dentition, nice level topline, good angulation & dressed in a thick well groomed coated. Moved well. B (2) 1 K Beach Brother; 2 C Moonbeam, 12 months bitch. Heavier than 2 in YB with good amount of bone but preferred the outline of 2, good front & rear angulation, moved & presented well.
